If you’re anything like us, you might’ve developed a strong affinity towards lip balms, and probably have an extensive collection to pick from on any given day. Lip treatments are always necessary, at any time of year due to their nourishing properties, subtle color tints, and more. While it’s imperative to protect your lips from UV rays on a daily basis, not all lip treatments are created equal (or include SPF). We tested out Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15, a cult favorite amongst beauty lovers, and not only did it protect our lips, but it also made them feel super soft!

About My Lips: I always need hydration

I find that no matter what I do, my lips always need some sort of balm or hydration, and exfoliation at least a few times a week. I often wear lip products ranging from lip masks to balms, tints, and long-wear lipsticks. Products I reach for often are Summer Fridays lip balm, Victoria Beckham Beauty lip tints, and Milk Makeup overnight lip mask.

How To Apply: Unscrew, twist up, and enjoy

One unique callout about the packaging of this lip treatment is that you have to unscrew it from the bottom to open it, which in return is quite genius. How many times have lip balms or other lip products lost their cap or become loose in your bag, causing a mess? That won’t happen with Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15, because of the way the cap is designed. All you need to do is simply unscrew the cap, twist up the balm and apply liberally on your lips till you’re happy.

The Results: Colorful, soft lips

This balm feels incredibly soft going on the lips, like silk. That is the first thing I noticed right away when testing it out. The second is that it leaves quite a nice color to lips for just being a balm versus a lipstick. I was impressed with the pigment. The balm has a light scent to it, almost a lemon-sugar type of smell, so that is important to know in case you might be sensitive to fragrance. Overall, the balm is very nice to use every day, but keep in mind that it’s quite soft, and if you push too hard on it, it could break or crumble. Another important thing to know is that you will need to reapply this through the day, it’s not a long-lasting lip treatment.

The Value: Its nourishment is worth it

There are a few things that the Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatment does that explains why it’s priced the way it is. The tinted aspect, the nourishing ingredients, and the fact it contains SPF are all great qualities and provide a unique experience to competing products. Priced at $24, it is more costly than your average lip treatment is, so I would absolutely suggest this as a splurge product to treat yourself with.
