What would I use the gingerbread spice in? Cookies? Hot Chocolate? I am curious. I have tried to make gingerbread cookies from scratch, but the recipes always have weird ingredients.

I am about to post a gingerbread hot cocoa mix recipe. I also use it in my oatmeal and cereal. I mix it in with my coffee grounds to add flavor. It would make a great milkshake with vanilla ice cream. Pancakes, muffins, frosting, yogurt parfaits … just to name a few ideas 😀
Oh, me too! I am quite obsessed with gingerbread this year!

I love gingerbread! This sounds wonderful. How much would you use of this mix in the hot cocoa recipe? 2-1/2 Tblsp?

Hi Pamela! Yes, 2-3 Tablespoons sounds about right for a large batch of cocoa mix. Depending on how much gingerbread flavor you prefer 🙂

Stir together the cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, black pepper and ground cloves in a small bowl until thoroughly combined. Use accordingly in your favorite gingerbread-spiced recipes. The spice mix can be stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
What's The Difference Between Pumpkin Pie Spice And Gingerbread Spice? Both actually include most, if not all, of these same ingredients, though in different amounts. Pumpkin pie spice is heavy on cinnamon, while gingerbread spice has a balance of cinnamon, allspice, and ginger.
What is Mixed Spice? Unlike allspice, mixed spice is a blend of several spices. These include cinnamon, coriander, caraway, nutmeg, ground ginger and cloves. The majority of the mix should be made from the cinnamon and coriander, and the remaining 10% made from the other spices.
Some other common spices used in gingerbread recipes are cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, and allspice. Cinnamon is available in ground form and in a stick. For baking, you should use ground cinnamon. Nutmeg adds a nutty, sweet spiciness to gingerbread.
If you don't have ground cinnamon, you can use ginger or allspice in place of pumpkin pie spice. Just use half of the amount called for since ginger and allspice have stronger flavors than cinnamon.
Sure, it belongs to the category of baked goods flavored with spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg and sweetened with honey, molasses or sugar. But unlike a crisp gingerbread man cookie, lebkuchen is soft, dense, and often nutty, with a texture somewhere between a cake and a cookie.
Both forms contain all the health benefits of ginger. Though it's hard to beat the flavor of the fresh root, ginger powder is nutritious, convenient and economical. Fresh ginger lasts a while in the refrigerator and can be frozen after you have peeled and chopped it.
Mixed spice, also called pudding spice, is a British blend of sweet spices, similar to the pumpkin pie spice used in the United States. Cinnamon is the dominant flavour, with nutmeg and allspice. It is often used in baking, or to complement fruits or other sweet foods.
Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon and sweetened with honey, sugar, or molasses. Gingerbread foods vary, ranging from a moist loaf cake to forms nearly as crisp as a ginger snap.
Allspice is a spice made from the dried berries of a plant known as Pimenta dioica, which is a member of the myrtle family. The flavor of allspice brings to mind cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and pepper. Allspice is used in Caribbean, Middle Eastern, and Latin American cuisines, among others.
The first thing you'll notice when tasting fresh ginger is that it's extremely pungent. This is a result of a compound called gingerol, which is related to capsaicin and piperine. These two compounds are responsible for the spiciness of chili peppers and black pepper, respectively.
