Oscars: Ben and Casey Affleck Among 16 Pairs of Oscar-Winning Siblings (2024)

Double Oscar winner Ben Affleck and double Oscar-nominated younger brother Casey Affleck have already joined the ranks of many famous Oscar-winning and -nominated families, such as the Coppolas, the Fondas and the Barrymores, but now that Casey has won this year's best actor prize for Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea, he and Ben will became the 16th Oscar-winning sibling pair in history.

Ben won his first Oscar for 1997's Good Will Hunting, for best writing, screenplay written directly for the screen, an honor he shared with longtime friend Matt Damon (and producer of Manchester by the Sea), and marked his breakthrough as Hollywood superstar. Ben also acted in a supporting role beside Damon, and Casey appeared in a minor supporting role. He won a Golden Globe for best director for 2013's Argo, but failed to gain a best director Oscar nomination, instead taking home the esteemed best picture prize as the film's producer (he also starred in the film). Affleck shares his second Oscar with producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov.

Casey starred in 2007's Gone Baby Gone, directed by his brother, and earned his first Oscar nomination that year for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in the supporting category.
